Biweekly hours, the right way
Type your in and out times for both weeks. Punchy totals each day, each week and the whole pay period, takes out unpaid lunch and counts overtime per workweek, the way federal law does. Set your hourly rate under More options to see the paycheck.
How to fill out a biweekly timesheet
- Set the first day of the pay period at the top of the card.
- Type each day's clock-in and clock-out times. "Copy Monday to the week" fills a regular schedule in one tap.
- Check the week 1 and week 2 totals, then tap Payday to print the card with signature lines or download a CSV.
Questions
Is overtime figured weekly or biweekly?
Weekly. Under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, overtime is counted per workweek, a fixed 7-day period, even when you are paid every two weeks. 50 hours in week 1 and 30 in week 2 is 80 hours, but 10 of them are overtime.
How many hours is a biweekly pay period?
Two workweeks. A full-time 40-hour schedule is 80 hours per paycheck, and there are 26 paychecks a year.
What is the "8 and 80" rule?
Hospitals and residential care facilities may, by agreement with employees, use a 14-day period and pay overtime after 8 hours in a day or 80 hours in the 14 days. Most other jobs use the weekly rule.
What is the difference between biweekly and semimonthly?
Biweekly is every two weeks (26 paychecks a year). Semimonthly is twice a month, such as the 1st and 15th (24 paychecks a year), so the number of days in each period changes.
